A trench coat is the ultimate transitional piece. Perfect for spring and still great for the autumn, the trench is the most timeless wardrobe staple you’ll ever buy. An investment that I felt it was well worth making and yet it was so hard to find the right one!
This is the first time (ever!) that I buy a trench coat. I guess I’ve come to an age in which a trench coat actually suits me! Is there such thing? Doesn’t that defy one of the greatest characteristics of the trench which is that it fits everyone regardless of gender, age or shape? Perhaps. But to actually pull off this classic and feel so comfortable on it is something I just couldn’t do in my early 20s.
I had been wanting to add a classic trench coat to my wardrobe for the last couple of years. Because a trench is such a timeless piece, I wanted to invest on something that could last longer, that would fit me well and that would be as classy as the unaffordable originals from Burberry.
Finding exactly what I wanted took quite some time. A trench has many details and most brands will try to give it a twist taking away that classic feeling I was looking for. In the end, I settled for this Morgan trench coat. It has the classic design and the traditional color I so much wanted and a great feel to it. I ordered a size 32 on Zalando, which in fact is a size 34, and needed to fix the length both on the hem and on the sleeves to get a perfect fit (I’m petite after all). But it was well worth the extra work as I’m really happy with my new coat!

ASOS has also many options for trench coats (this classic one, a skater trench, in black or in blush). Mango also has an interesting shorter version and I’ve seen some more trendy pieces (embroidery details and strong colors) at Zara.
I feel I’m quite late to the party on this one. I bet most of you already have a beloved trench. But I so much wanted to make sure I would buy the right one. After a long quest, I’m happy to say I’ve found the one!
