A kimono/cardigan in 1 day

I’m finally back into sewing (and so happy about it)! First I went on vacation, and there was no way I was allowed to bring my sewing machine along for 3 weeks of  beach, hiking and the birth of my first nephew (yaaay)! Now being back feels good, but getting into work again and finding a routine was not easy. But getting into a routine also means getting into sewing and I’m really happy to share with you my first make since the Summer!

It’s pretty cold in the Netherlands since the beginning of Fall. With this in mind I walked around in the fabric market looking for something warm. Eventually I found this wool knit in discount and decided for it. I had never worked with a stretch fabric before, so I got myself some stretch needles for my machine. The way to spend this fabric was also already in my mind! Some weeks ago I saw an amazing tutorial for a kimono/cardigan from Portia Lawrie. The tutorial is really straight forward to follow, there is no pattern needed and you will end up with a new cardigan within a couple hours! I really love the kimono shape and I’m planning on doing it again in other colours/materials. The tutorial is available at Portia’s website (see here)!

I don’t own an overlocker, and so I just zigzagged stitched everything.

I’m very pleased with the result! It’s so easy to make and so warm and comfy!!
